Programme outline

Coverage

Build on existing knowledge in Primary topics – topics will be covered in greater depth with more complex concepts introduced at the Secondary level.

New mathematics topics are introduced, such as Primes, Approximation and Estimation, Algebra, and Functions and Graphs.

Students test their understanding and mastery of the mathematical concepts through our weekly practices that are tiered by difficulty.

Comprehensive Concept Notes

Detailed concept development notes with guided practices and worked solutions for students to understand fundamental concepts of each topic.

Course roadmap

Journey through our Secondary Mathematics course

As students transition from Primary to Secondary, they will have to learn new topics, pick up new methods to solve problems, and familiarise themselves with problem-solving in a real-world context.

Our Sec 1 and 2 Mathematics Programme will help students to build proficiency in foundational topics within the three key areas of Number and Algebra, Geometry and Measurement, and Statistics and Probability. Detailed concept notes, with formulas and worked examples, are provided for students to understand the fundamentals of each topic. Students will reinforce their understanding and mastery of mathematical concepts through weekly practice questions, which are tiered by difficulty level.

To better appreciate the practical applications of mathematics concepts, students will also be introduced to real-world scenario problems, where they will collaborate in group discussions to find the right solutions.

At Upper Secondary, students will deepen their proficiency in the subject and gear themselves up for the O Levels Mathematics examinations. Topics from Lower Secondary will be expanded upon and covered in greater depth, and new and more advanced topics such as Indices, Circular Measure, and Vectors will also be introduced.

Our Sec 3 and 4 Mathematics Programme will help students consolidate their learning, and achieve a sound mastery of all the key mathematics concepts acquired over the four years of their secondary school education. We will guide students to hone their examination techniques, and ensure they are well-drilled to effectively tackle common question types in the exams. Students will get access to examination-useful revision notes and trending O-Level questions. They will also practise mock examination papers under timed conditions. Our error analysis highlights common mistakes, and enables students to steer clear of these errors in the exams.

Additional Mathematics presents a steep learning curve for students, as it involves more in-depth application of algebraic rules, requires more intermediate workings, and demands a rigorous understanding of core concepts.

Mind Stretcher’s Additional Mathematics programme uses a spiral approach to ensure that each topic is covered at appropriate levels in increasing depth. Students will be taught step-by-step methods to tackle questions, and learn how to present their answers clearly and concisely to maximize their marks. Students will also experience differentiated learning through ample level-tiered questions in our worksheets. Instead of memorising the steps, students will learn to understand the logic and rationale, and acquire easy-to-understand steps to solve any Additional Maths problems.

Timely practices will be given so that students can master the skill of time-management. In order to let students effectively recognise the relationships between the topics learnt, they will be exposed to questions involving two or more topics.

Mrs Shum is a caring teacher who is concerned about her students and their well-being. She has helped me improve in my English and has always been very caring towards me.
