Chat with us View class schedulesFrom three and a half years old, pre-schoolers can join our programme starting from Budding Level, and progress through the other 4 levels – Beginner, Fluent, Proficient and Champion.
Pre-schoolers will be taught to recognise the letters of the alphabet and their sounds, vowels, blends and digraphs, use of punctuation, challenging words, and more.
With our proprietary reading books, curriculum materials and bubbly teachers, we engage pre-schoolers through fun activities with the aim of cultivating their love for learning.
Using a multitude of Mind Stretcher's proprietary reading books, worksheets and teaching techniques, we cultivate their love for reading through fun and games.
Learn to recognise the letters of the alphabet and their sounds, short and long vowels, and blends and digraphs through songs and pictorial recognition.
Sound out and write words using letter sounds and letter combinations, and learn to recognise and apply spelling patterns when doing sentence writing.
Utilising the phonics skillset learnt in each level, preschoolers practice a set of readers weekly to learn how to read sentences easily.
Upon successful completion of each level, pre-schoolers will be awarded with a level of completion certificate as a recognition of mastering the skillset of the particular level.

Journey through our Phonics & Reading course
Our young ones will begin their journey as budding readers with an introduction to the letters of the alphabet. They will then move on and learn how to recognize the two main types of letters: vowels and consonants. Students will end the first level of this programme by learning to recognize the sounds of each individual letter in the alphabet!
At Level 2, our beginner readers are introduced to blends and digraphs. They are taught to recognize blends and their sounds, where consonants are blended together like where consonants are blended together like “S” and “t” in the word star. They will also be exposed to basic blending techniques, a critical technique we use in daily life when learning to pronounce unfamiliar words by putting individual letters and their sounds together.
At this intermediate level, it is crucial for children to feel confident in their own reading abilities, especially when reading aloud. Teachers will recap and reinforce the blending techniques taught in the previous level before introducing yet another reading essential, rimes. To help our young ones read with fluency and clear pronunciation, they will practice with words that occur most frequently in written texts.
At Level 4, our students will begin increasing their proficiency in reading by confronting more challenging words. They will be Introduced to short vowel sounds, ending consonant blends, word rimes and their sounds. They will also be answering open-ended questions which are crafted to encourage thoughtful responses and cultivate thinking processes that parallel their ability to read and speak.
At the final level of our Phonics and Reading programme, our young ones will be transformed into champion readers with an introduction to long vowel sounds and exposure to words that are higher on the difficulty level. They will learn the importance of punctuation and using it to read with proper expression, accuracy and fluency. The skills learnt at this level help our students build a strong foundation to reading meaningful text which will serve them in their future academic journey and beyond!
